In the article, "Should Everyone Get a Trophy?" by Lauren Tarshis, she talked about how kids get a trophy just for showing up to team practices. Our school system decided more than a decade ago to pass kids on to the next grade regardless of how successful they were on their report card. Do you think kids should fail?
Should Everyone Get A Trophy
I think that kids should get held back. To many kids don’t pay attention in class because they know they won’t fail. When it comes to high school they won’t know what they’re doing and they can fail. Some kids don’t even care and they need to for their education ahead of them.
One of the reasons why I think they should be held back is kids not staying attentive. The kids know they’re going to pass so they don’t try to listen. Many students try their best but their are the odd kids who don’t. The public schools start to get the older students ready for high school so they won’t fail. Student’s need to understand the fact that it is serious and listen to what the teacher is teaching them so they know what to do when it comes to high school. If they held a student back that grade they would get worried and would start to pay attention so that they know it is serious.
Most kids don’t try to work at school at all. If the board made it so you can fail in public school kids would actually work. It would be a threat to the kids to now know you can fail. When teachers are trying to teach they normally don’t listen but if they made it so you can fail they would learn more. I personally think that it would work and it would help the teacher and also the students.
Students need to start good working habits so they don’t fail. After the kids are done in public school they will struggle for when the work piles up. Kids will tend to fail certain classes for them not listening. So if we don’t fail kids in public school it will make it harder for us as students in high school.
In conclusion my opinion is that kids should be held back in public school. These were my reasons that i stated why they should be held back is them staying attentive, kids won’t try, and they’re good working habits. That is all of the reasons why I think they should get held back in public school and high school.
